“As the founder of the annual 10K Run/Walk for Easter Seals Kids in Newmarket, Joe Persechini has been a friend, fundraiser, and long-time supporter of Easter Seals Ontario since 1976.
As the champion of the 10K Run/Walk, Joe’s involvement has helped raise over $3 million for Easter Seals and has been instrumental in making this event York Region’s longest running fundraiser for children and youth with disabilities. Although he has stepped down as Chair of the event, Joe continues to be involved and lend his support.
Over the years, Easter Seals Ontario has proudly recognized Joe’s outstanding dedication with our Silver Meritorious Service Award in 1996, our Distinguished Individual Service Award in 2003, and Easter Seals’ highest honour, the Yvonne Alexander Award in 2010.
We sincerely appreciate all Joe has done and continues to do for Easter Seals Ontario and for children and youth with physical disabilities and their families in the community.”
– Carol Lloyd, President & CEO of Easter Seals Ontario.
“I met Joe Persechini when he became a member of the York Regional Police Services Board. It was not long thereafter that the Board elected him as Vice-Chairman. Joe was diligent in his duties and worked enthusiastically to advance various public safety initiatives. Over the years, I have come to know Joe as a man who is all heart. He cares deeply about people and he always makes time to lend a helping hand. If elected, he will serve his constituents with dedication and passion to make his community a better place.”
– The Reverend Connie Phillipson
“Getting to meet and work with Joe Persechini back in the early 80’s was a turning point in my career as a local musician. Joe’s genuine interest and involvement with the community was key – especially his work with Easter Seals. He has always put others ahead of himself in his work and thrives on seeing others succeed. A true gentleman; Joe was instrumental in helping us promote and succeed with our music while keeping us connected to our hometown. From producing our first concert show at a local high school to the big stage – he’s always been there. Joe Persechini would make an excellent choice for council in East Gwillimbury. He’s equally comfortable and confident working alone or on a team. Thanks Joe!”
– Sam Reid, East Gwillimbury resident and member of Glass Tiger
“Joe is our friend; he’s honest, hard-working, dedicated and committed.”
